Verify that the ignition key cannot be pulled out except in P position.
- If a malfunction is found, inspect the interlock cable. (See INTERLOCK CABLE INSPECTION.)
Shift-lock inspection
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
2. Verify that the selector lever is in P position.
3. Depress the brake pedal and verify that the selector lever can be shifted
from P position.

1. Remove the interlock cable.
2. With the slider pin as shown in the figure, verify that the interlock
cable moves freely.
If a malfunction is found, replace the interlock cable.

To remove the jack
1. Lift the trunk mat.

3. Turn the wing bolt and jack screw counterclockwise.
